I recently recieved a Comment on my site requesting a way of applying Password Protection to their MSN Spaces blog. I have figured a way of doing this, but I would just like to add that this would not give you the right to post anything on your blog that may violate MSN Spaces Code Of Conduct, even if it is password protected, also, I do not know how secure this method is, it is intended just for a 'mess-about' password protection ONLY. It will require you subscribing to a website (just for the Password Protection webpage). So, if you want to know how, just read on:
The first thing you need to do is register on a website which provides you with a password protection page. One of the best I have found is POPPY DOG, this website gives you the ability to add 10 individual users and passwords, as well as specifying which page the user is re-directed to.
So, if you go to the website and click on the link to become a member and just go through the whole registration process. When you have completed this just go to the Members Area where you can customise your password protection. If you click on Edit it brings up a table with 10 rows and 3 columns (see screenshot 1 below)

, just insert a username and password, now, you need a page for your user to be re-directed to. To do this, go to your MSN Spaces, create a new Blog and find out the Permalink (do this by opening your MSN Spaces homepage after you have posted your Blog, at the bottom of your Blog is a link that says Permalink, click on this and it will show you the Internet Address for your Blog (see screenshot 2 below)).

Just copy and paste this into your password protection table (see screenshot 3 below).

Just repeat this for as many users (up to 10) as you want. Then click Save at the bottom of the page.
Once you have inserted all the above information you will require a link for your password protection page. Poppydog give you a page to link to that will allow your users to log into. Click on URL/Code Paste in the Members Area to find out your link. If you look at screenshot 3 below you can see where it gives you your link. Copy this link and go to your MSN Space, create a new Blog (MAKE SURE THE CATEGORY IS NONE), click on the <HTML> button and paste this code into it: <a href="http://www.yourlink.com">MEMBERS AREA</a>, replacing the http://www.yourlink.com with the link given to you from poppydog.com. Now post your blog
Nearley done now, firstly, you will need to make sure the Members Area is not visible on your main page, to do this, click on Settings (see screenshot 4 below)

, then click on Blog Settings, you will see there is a Number Of Blog Enteries section and a drop down menu with the number of Blogs you want visible, click on this and click 5. There is a way of getting just 1 on your front page if you want, to visit the page for this CLICK HERE, this page also tells you how to use the code. So, now you have hopefully hidden your Members Area by either producing 5 new Blogs, or just publishing 1 blog on your main page.
Theres just one more thing to do, click on Settings again, then look for a section called Syndicate, it will have a tickbox, make sure it is not ticked (see screenshot 5 below).

Click save (at the bottom of the page) and you are done!
