    Different Cursors

    Different Mouse Cursors

This is a bit of a wierd tutorial, not sure where you would use this, but here it is anyway. If you want to change the mouse cursor of your users then you can by following these steps:
    • If you want to change a cursor over a link then you would type in <span style="cursor:crosshair"><a href="http://www.yourlink.com">LINK</a></span>
    • Its the <span style="cursor:crosshair"> </span> that you need to take notice of here, as this is what tells your Internet Explorer what cursor to display when you hover over it.
    • There are 7 types of cursor you can have here, they are listed below:
      • <span style="cursor:hand">(This appears over links by default anyway)
      • <span style="cursor:crosshair">
      • <span style="cursor:text">(This appears over text by default anyway)
      • <span style="cursor:wait">
      • <span style="cursor:move">
      • <span style="cursor:help">
      • <span style="cursor:n-resize">
    • So, to add you own custom cursor, just use whatever type of cursor you want from the above list, put some <span> </span> tags around what you want to have a special cursor, and your sorted!

    Notes:

    • Examples of the scripts are shown on this Blog, to see them just hover over the icons above.
    • It will not change the mouse to the icons above if the user is not using default Windows icons, it will just change to the mouse cursors version of that option (see below for screenshots of my cursors)

    Dude,

I actually found a use for this: in my Guest Book, I have a "hidden" link to a Shout Box for my site... I'd like it not to bring up the standard link cursor for the link (which is a picture), but even though the SPAN tags are there, they seem to have no apparent effect.

Please have a look when you have the time and get back to me if you can.
