    Blog Tool Explained

    Explination Of The Blog Creation Tool



    Whenever you create a new Blog you will get a window that looks something like this (without all the numbers and arrows abviously) Below is an explination of what all the numbers above mean:
    1. Edit Blog Entry - This is one of two tabs, when this is clicked on it takes you to this window
    2. Preview Blog Entry - This is the other of the two tabs, when this is clicked on it gives you a preview of what your blog will look like (please note that the HTML editor removes some HTML tags e.g. JavaScripts for security reasons, when previewing your Blog via this method it will not remove all of these tags
    3. Date/Time - This field cannot be edited, it simply states when you created this blog
    4. Title - This field holds the title your new Blog, there are ways of not having to name your blog but I will not go into that at the moment
    5. Category - This is optional, you can select a Category your Blog fits into e.g. if you are writing about the your favourite music you could put it into the Category Music
    6. Add A Category - Alternativly you could create a Category e.g. Diary, About Me, etc, to do this just click on this link and you can specify the name for your new Cateogry
    7. Cut - This means that whatever you highlight will be deleted, but copied to your computers Clipboard (this is where information is stored when you Cut/Copy/Paste things. (Alternative is pressing Ctrl + X)
    8. Copy - This is the same as cut, but it does not delete the information. (Alternative is pressing Ctrl + C)
    9. Paste - This enables you to put the information you have cut or copied into your Blog. (Alternative is pressing Ctrl + V)
    10. Paragraph - Here you can specify what writing style you want to be typing in e.g. Different headings, normal paragraph style, etc
    11. Font Style - If you want a new style of font then this is the place to go, you can choose one of several fonts for any part of you page
    12. Font Size - Well, this is how you specify the size of your font
    13. Bold - You can make your text BOLD with this button
    14. Itallic - You can make your text ITALLIC with this button
    15. Underline - You can make your text UNDERLINED with this button
    16. <HTML> - When you click this button it shows you the HTML of your Blog, this is the button you should click when pasting in codes you get off my website
    17. Your Blog - This is where you can type in what you want your Blog to display
    18. If you want items on your blog aligned to the left click this button
    19. If you want items on your blog aligned in the middle click this button
    20. If you want items on your blog aligned to the right click this button
    21. If you want to create a numbered list then click this button to start one
    22. If you want to create a list, but with bullet-points, not numbers then click this button
    23. Indent - If you want one part of your text to be indented then click this button
    24. Dedent - If you want to remove the indentation on your page then click this button
    25. Line - If you want to put a dividing line on your page then click this button
    26. Link - If you want to create a link for some item(s) on your page then highlight them and click this button, it opens a new window where you can specify a link
    27. Search Link - I will come back to this button later
    28. Text Background Colour - If you want your text to have a specific background colour then click this button to select a colour
    29. Text Colour - If you want to select the colour of your text then click here and choose a colour
    30. Insert Smile - If you want to put smiles into your blog then click this button and choose a smile
    31. Add Photos - If you want to put images on your Blog then click this button, it will open a pop-up-window and allow you to upload images off your hard-drive to put on your Blog.
    32. Tracebacks - If you want to replicate a Blog you have found somewhere else it is commonly courtious to place a trackback on that Blog so other users know where you got that Blog from
    33. Publish Entry - Not selectable untill you have given your Blog a name, OR uploaded an image, this will put your Blog onto the internet where everone you have specified can see it
    34. Save As Draft - If you want to write a Blog, but not publish it just yet then you can save it as a draft, this means it is saved on MSN Spaces, but no-one but you can see it
    35. Cancle - If you want to just get rid of this new blog click Cancle
        36. Well, hope that covers everything here!
