11 August POWERTOYS!!!Powertoys!!!
MSN Spaces has finally released some new toys that we can play with! There are 3 of them, listed below, check them out, they will all be useful to all of you! How To 'Install' The PowertoysFirstly, let me say these 'toys' are created by MSN, and so should work OK, but MSN does not offer support if they go wrong or produce any problems, but, by looking at them they don't look like they can cause any harm anyway. To install the codes you have to enter a bit of code after your Internet Address. Below is a step by step process to do this:
- Go to your MSN Space and go to the Edit My Space page
- The Internet Address (at the top of your page, see Screenshot 1) should have one of the following added to it:
- For the Tweak UI powertoy (which allows you to edit you background colours, as well as you table properties) add &powertoy=tweakomatic to the end of your Internet Address (see Screenshot 2)
- For the Sandbox powertoy (which allows you to add a HTML box to your website, allowing you to put any HTML you want on any part of your MSN Space (except banned tags)) add &powertoy=sandbox to the end of your Internet Address (see Screenshot 2)
- For the Windows Media Player (WMP) powertoy (which allows you to put a movie on your web page (with WMP controls)) add &powertoy=musicvideo to the end of your Internet Address (see Screenshot 2)
- Now click on the Customise Button (see Screenshot 3), then Modules (see Screenshot 3), then scroll down to the new Module you want (which will be Powertoys: #name of powertoy you just installed#) (see Screenshot 3)
- The new item will be added to your Space, you can drag it to wherever you want on your page.
- When you have positioned your new items click Save (at the top of your page (see Screenshot 4)) and your new page layout is done)
- As I said before there are 3 powertoys, below is how to edit each of them:
- Sandbox powertoy: (see Screenshot 5)
- Just type in the HTML you want (I put my HTML Tutorial logo and counter here
- If you want to give it a title then put it in the Module Name field
- If you want to put this HTML into a table then check the Show Border check box
- Tweak UI powertoy: (see Screenshot 6)
- Firstly you can edit your background colours, just enter the HEX colour code you want in each box
- You can change the properties of your Background image from selecting your required option from each drop-down bow
- Next you can edit the font colours, again by inserting a HEX colour code
- Then there are options for changing Module options e.g. your blog, lists, etc
- Windows Media Player powertoy: (see Screenshot 7)
- Just type in the URL (Internet Address) of the video you want to display
- You can choose the position you want your movie to display
- You can specify the amount of times the movie plays
- You can edit the speed at which the movie plays at
- If you want your movie to start automatically check the Auto Start check box
- You can also chose the size of your movie
- Finally you can choose whether you want users to be able to access a right-click menu when they click on your movie
- That's it really, hope this tutorial is useful. Definitely take advantage of these though!
